Edaphoclimatic characteristics of the area
The climatic factors of this transition region, between the “Chana de Camissombo”, crossing the escarpment and forest galleries on the bank of the Chicapa River, and the savannas in the Cuilo area, lie within ranges that fully satisfy the requirements of the crops, to be explored, such as:
  • Average annual temperature in the shade, which varies from 17º to 35º C;
  • The yearly average temperature at a depth of 0.5 to 3 meters, which goes from 26º to 29ºC;
  • The brightness that exceeds 1,000 hours/year;
  • Annual average relative humidity, which varies from 56 to 86%;
  • Evaporation with monthly average, which goes from 2 to 7 mm;
  • Winds with the predominant direction of NW and SE;
  • Even if it is high, precipitation ranges from 1200 to 1700 mm/year.
Agroecological characteristics of fauna and flora

The region's fauna is of great richness and variety, favoured by the diversity of vegetation and mainly by the constitution of two profoundly different environments, the savannah and the forest. Several species of reptiles, batrachians, fish, arthropods, molluscs, worms, birds and mammals are identified.

  • Savannas predominate, more or less wooded, covered by "michitu" rainforest galleries, dominated by the great Chicapa River.
  • The predominant vegetation in this area is the large "tchana" or Chana do Camissombo, an "ericifruticeta" extending to the sides of the Capaia. Locally called "kambengue", interfluvial plain without or with little arboreal vegetation, vast plains of whitish sandy soil, covered with undergrowth and woody vegetation, primarily with persistent and leathery leaves, to which grasses of 2 to 3 meters in length are added. height, from the family of "hyparrhenia familias", "hyparrhenia rufas" and "panicum maximum", forage grass, widely consumed by ruminant animals.
  • Several species of large antelopes frequent the Chanas de Camissombo, including the Hippotragus equinus (Red Sable) and Hippotragus equinus cottoni (Pacassa or “Tengu”), Tragelaphus scritus (Ngukungu), Philantomba coerulus (“Kasseche”) and Civettictis civetta (Tchikole), Potamochoerus larvatus (Boar or “Tchombu”), Felis leo (Lion “Tâmbwe”), etc.
The social situation of workers and the population that works and lives in the concession area of the Yetwene Project mine is a concern of the Management of the Mountain Stability Group/Company. Which, through agricultural activity, intends to continue to implement actions that aim to create, in the locality, socio-economic and cultural development, from the perspective of sustainability, the promotion of rural development and the well-being of their communities.
Influence factors
The concession area is an area of agro-geological potential. It has rich biodiversity and abundant agricultural resources, as well as extensive areas of forests and savannas, which can be incorporated into the production process. Noteworthy is the water potential for the irrigation of different crops and fish farming.
